Q9: Covering letters
How should a covering letter be structured when applying for mini-pupillages? Is it along the lines of a UCAS statement?

From memory (and it seems like a long time ago now!) my covering letters were fairly short and boring. They just summarised my academic qualifications, my most recent job (since I worked first before changing career), and why I thought I was interested in the area of work that the set specialised in.
I would have thought keeping it short (ie. a page) would be sensible since they'll have hundreds to get through. I guess if you're not allowed to send a CV or any other information as well it might have to be a bit longer, but in my experience so far, brevity is always welcomed!
