Q7: Identity of pupil supervisors

Once you have been offered a pupillage is it possible to have any say asto who will be your pupil master? Is it likely that Chambers will tell youbeforehand?

I suspect this differs according to where you are. Some sets definitely do tell you quite a long time in advance, although the Bar Council guidance is only that you are allocated to your supervisor 10 days before pupillage.
I'd be surprised if you get to have any input, since the chambers will have their own reasons for picking people to be supervisers, for example ensuring pupils see particular types of work.
Chambers have to give copies of their pupillage policy (which will include details of the types of work pupils will do) to people who are shortlisted for interview - they may give it to you before then if you ask nicely!
